Naming your survey

The name of the survey is what will later be displayed in the result views.

Does it matter what we call the survey? If so, what should it be named? The name of the survey is what will later be displayed in the result views; in summaries, next to the questions, with NPS, and in filter menus - basically everywhere.

Here's are some examples from the result view

.. and the question view.

Naming a survey can be both easy and difficult. Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer, but here we list some things we believe are worth considering.

Less is More

A short and concise name fits everywhere and does not need to be abbreviated - clear in all views.

Separation

Names that differ make it easy to locate the right one among different types of surveys, historical results, as well as in comparisons and analyses.

Repeatable

Repeatable names enable marketing and promotion of the survey as a recurring concept and contribute to a clean structure in comparisons and analyses.

Date

Dates do not need to be included in the name as this is automatically added based on the month when the survey ends.

In the example below, you see the summary of a survey conducted between April 28 and May 12, 2024. "May 2024" is automatically added to the survey's name, which is "NPS".

PS!

If you name your survey "May 2024", your survey will have the name "May 2024 - May 2024".

Example

  • We are planning a customer relationship survey in the period September 23 - October 7, 2024.
  • We want to measure a specific part of the customer base and base it on a common denominator for geographical location - in this case, Denmark.
  • So, we name our survey "Denmark".
  • The date is added automatically, and the survey is now called "Denmark - Oct 2024."
  • In the follow-up of the results, we can easily find the Denmark survey among other surveys, and if we wish to conduct a new measurement in Denmark later, we can reuse the same name with new dates.
