Creating rule-based segments

Creating rule-based segments is an effective way to handle and select specific types of respondents or parts of the structure.

Do you want to create segments based on which country respondents are from? Or is it perhaps interesting to create a selection of respondents consisting of only critics, based on answers the NPS question?

This is entirely possible as segments are created by rules.

What are rules?

Rules is set up to trigger specific outcomes based on for example respondents' answers. It is often used to follow up on low scores on selected questions to delve deeper into underlying factors.

Examples and a case

You want to ask a follow-up question to respondents who score low on a specific question.

Rule: Ask Question A2 if Question A scores less than or equal to 3.
Trigger: If Question A scores less than or equal to 3.
Outcome: Ask Question A2

In the survey

  • Question A: Do you receive regular feedback from your manager? (Answer scale 1-5)
    • Score on the question: 2 (lower than 3 and the logic is triggered)
      • Question A2: What do you miss in the form of feedback from your manager?
        • Answered, for example, with a text comment, multiple choice, etc.
  • The survey continues with the next basic question in order.. Question B
  • Question C
  • Question D, etc...

Settings

1. The outcome - "This happens"
Define what you want to happen if the criteria in your rule are met and the scenario occurs. Here you choose, for example, that you want to show a specific question.

And
Allows you to add multiple outcomes if your logic is triggered - If your scenario occurs, then this and this question should be asked as a follow-up.

2. The rule - "If this happens"
Create your scenario, set the criteria in the rule that triggers your logic. For example: If question A gets a result that is lower than or equal to 3...

Or

Allows you to add multiple criteria to the rule. It is enough that one of your criteria is met - If this or this occurs...

Add conditions

Allows you to combine multiple criteria that together trigger your logic. All criteria must be met for the logic to be triggered - If this and this occurs...
