What is a text analysis?

Brilliant's text analysis is a product that uses AI to compile, categorise, and identify patterns in text data.

The analysis simply transforms unstructured text into visual graphs that are easy to interpret and that clearly show the main topics mentioned in the text comments.

The results of the analysis are presented in so-called frequency graphs, where each frequency graph consists of 3 types of sentiment; negative, neutral, positive, and an associated tonality score.

Topics

A topic can be compared to a category or an area. The analysis identifies the topics most frequently mentioned and groups these in a way that allows us to quickly get an overview of what the text comments are about. Examples of different topics can be simplicity, proactivity, information, accessibility, etc.

Sentiment

In addition to categorising text based on different topics, a sentiment analysis of each comment is performed to identify how the respondent feels about the topics mentioned in the text.

A text comment can contain both positive and negative feelings about the same topic, and/or different topics. This is what the sentiment analysis helps us find. For example, a respondent may write positively about simplicity but negatively about information in the same text comment.
