Logic

Logic is a set of rules that trigger specific outcomes based on respondents' answers. It is often used to follow up on low scores on selected questions to deep-dive in underlying factors.

Example and a case

You want to ask a follow-up question to respondents who give a low score on a specific question.

The rule: Ask Question A2 if Question A receives a score equal to or lower than 3.
The trigger: If Question A receives a score equal to or lower than 3.
The outcome: Question A2 is displayed.

In the survey

  • Question A: Do you receive regular feedback from your manager? (Response scale 1-5)
    • Answer to the question: 2 (lower than 3 and the logic is triggered)
      • Question A2 appears: "What is missing in terms of feedback from your manager?"
  • After the follow-up question, the survey continues with the next base questions in order... Question B
  • Question C
  • Question D, and so on.

Logic settings

1. The outcome - "This happens"
The outcome defines what should happen if the criteria of your rule are met and your logic is triggered. This could mean displaying a specific follow-up question.

And
Allows you to add additional outcomes if your logic is triggered. Meaning multiple follow-up questions will be displayed if the logic is triggered - show this and this question.

2. The rule - "If this occurs"
The rule determines the conditions that trigger the logic. For example, if Question A receives a score equal to or lower than 3...

Or
Multiple criteria can be added to your rule, meaning the logic will be triggered if any of the criteria are met - If this or this occurs...

Add criteria
Allows you to combine multiple criteria that must all be met for the logic to trigger - If this and this occurs...
