How to think in the library?

The library holds all available content for your surveys—questions, indexes, question modules, and communication texts for email sendouts. Copy, edit, remove and create content.

The library holds all available content for your surveys—questions, indexes, question modules, and communication texts for email sendouts. To get you started, Brilliant provides the foundation of all libraries, with tested and validated questions and indexes for you to rely on.

Use these elements in the library as they are or make adjustments to fit your needs. Or, use them as inspiration and verification when you start creating your own sets of questions and content for your surveys.

The library is a place of high flexibility, allowing you to customize all aspects of what later reaches your respondents. It’s much like a superpower, and as the saying goes—'With great power comes great responsibility.'

That's a good question

A survey is about collecting data on important topics to help you develop your workforce and create engagement. That’s why it’s crucial that the questions you ask measure what they’re meant to measure and bring real value. Good questions provide actionable results and insights.

In the library, creating questions is super fast, but proceed with caution. Take the time to think about how you phrase your questions, which ones you combine, and how much you tweak Brilliant's original content without moving too much away from the core purpose. How much can I customise without losing the purpose? That's for you to assess.

📌 How to write a good question?

Question Modules

In short, these are grouping mechanisms designed to speed up your workflow, provide an overview, and allow you to combine and group fixed sets of questions for reusability. There are two main use cases;

  • Designed to cover a specific subject area, such as questions on culture, safety, remote work, etc.
  • Designed for a specific purpose - such as a recurring pulse survey including the same questions every time

Indexes vs. Question Modules

While question modules are designed simply to hold a collection of questions, indexes provide comprehensive result reports and KPIs to help you track development over time and benchmark your results.

At a glance, the difference may seem small between the two—and it is when working with it in the library—but on the other side of a survey is where the indexes truly shine. The are a few key features to an index

  • Designed to cover a specific subject area
  • Reported as an average of all included questions
  • Unique result report pages

We are confident in our indexes, but sometimes adjustments are needed to fit your organisation. To accommodate that, you can duplicate Brilliant's indexes and make them your own without losing its connection to benchmark.

How big of a change is too big? Is it comparable? That’s for you to decide—only you can draw the line.

Communication texts

Maybe one of the most important adjustments you can make to a survey. Adapting language and tonality to match your organisation, meeting your respondents in a way they recognise.

For every account created, survey or reminder sent, and result reported, a notification goes with it. To streamline this communication, we’ve prepared a collection of templates as inspiration. Use these templates as a starting point to customise your messaging. Create unique texts for each survey or simplify your process with a go-to version for all your sendouts.

Master language and translations

This goes for all content created in the platform and there are a few things to consider

    • The master language is the language in which your original content is written, the blueprint, if you will.
    • For easier collaboration and a smoother translation process, we recommend keeping your master version in English
    • Remember to check and update translations when making adjustments to your original content
